Fusion Studios Classes

Fusion Studios offers a series of special classes for those learning to fuse glass for the first time to more experienced artists and designers looking to expand their creative glass working options. The classes are hands-on and taught by Glass artist Richard Altman at the Fusion Studios facility in Tempe, AZ. The studio is 15 minutes from Sky Harbor Airport and affordable hotel accommodations are close by for out-of-town participants. Introduction to Glass Fusing This class is an introduction to the Fused Glass art form. The class is designed to give you all the information you need to get started fusing glass. This includes helping you discover your area of interest within the many creative fusing techniques and how to evolve your learning in that area. In addition to all the basics you will be introduced to new creative strategies for developing your ideas and designs including use of a computer as a design tool. Some of what you will learn….
  1. What is fusing compared to other techniques of working with glass.
  2. What are the basic technical skills required such as cutting and shaping glass, preparing glass for the kiln, how to use a kiln to fire glass.
  3. How to create designs for glass fusing.
  4. How to set up a glass fusing studio of your own.
  5. Introduction to glass and materials used in fusing.
  6. Using temperature as a creative tool.
